Purple coneflowers are the perfect perennial to add to any flower bed or butterfly garden. They attract not only butterflies, but bees and other pollinators that help make your flowering plants productive and beautiful!
Coneflowers are now available in a variety of shapes and colors, so don’t limit yourself to just purple, although this is my favorite. They do well in sun and part shade and are hardy in zones 4-9. Mine have even self-seeded themselves, so now I’m getting more coneflowers without having to buy new plants! An added bonus to a perennial bed!!!
Lorraine Rowe says
I have replaced daisies in my butterfly bed with White
Swan coneflowers…I don’t seem to have much success
with the daisies but the coneflowers do well and the
White Swan variety gives me that “pop” of white that
makes the other colors stand out. Just another quick
note…best soil admendment I’ve ever found is cotton
burr compost/mulch…it STINKS but everything grows
beautifully and the bad smell doesn’t last.
Love reading about your adventures.
